Balochistan High Court Summons DC Mastung Over Lukpass Tunnel Traffic Jams, Crime Incidents

Quetta: The **Balochistan High Court (BHC)** has taken serious notice of persistent **traffic congestion and criminal activities** at the strategically important **Lukpass Tunnel**, which connects Quetta with other major cities of the country.

A division bench comprising **Chief Justice Rozi Khan Barrech** and **Justice Sardar Ahmed Halimi** expressed dissatisfaction with the report submitted by the **Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mastung** and ordered him to appear in person at the next hearing.

The court directed the DC to submit a **comprehensive report**, including a list of individuals involved in criminal activities at the tunnel during the past year and details of measures taken to ensure smooth traffic flow.

Furthermore, the bench sought responses from **Frontier Corps (FC) North** and **Customs authorities**, questioning why their check posts at the entrance of the tunnel should not be relocated to a more suitable location. The court noted that these posts were causing hours-long traffic jams.

The court also warned that if satisfactory explanations were not provided, **representatives of the FC and Customs** would also be required to appear in person at the next hearing.

Would you like me to also add a short **background note** on why the Lukpass Tunnel is considered so strategically important for Balochistan?
