Flood Threatens Dadu and Sehwan Areas as Water Level Rises

DADU: A powerful flood stream from Dadu’s Mehar tehsil is expected to hit the Sehwan protective embankment in Larkana today, prompting large-scale evacuation of residents from low-lying areas.

Water levels at the Dadu-Moro bridge have surged, inundating villages in the riverine belts of Mehar and Dadu tehsils. A breach in the Zamindari bund near Nayo Goth has submerged four more villages, damaging cotton, sesame, and other standing crops.

Authorities confirmed that **at least 46 villages have been affected**, with road access between Mehar, Dadu, and nearby settlements cut off due to flooding.

Meanwhile, officials at Sukkur Barrage reported a reduction of 24,000 cusecs in water flow over the past 24 hours. They further projected that water levels would continue to recede, with the flood wave expected to reach Kotri Barrage between Monday and Tuesday.
