After National Assembly, PTI Senators Also Resign from Senate Standing Committees

Islamabad: Following resignations in the National Assembly, members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have also stepped down from Senate standing committees, in compliance with party directives.
PTI-backed Senator **Mirza Muhammad Afridi** has resigned from five Senate committees: **Commerce**, **Industries & Production**, **Education**, **Energy**, and **Inter-Provincial Coordination**. He confirmed that his decision was made in line with the instructions of the PTI founder, stating:
*”I am resigning from the standing committees on the directives of the PTI founder, in full compliance with his order.”*
Similarly, senior PTI leader and former federal minister **Senator Azam Khan Swati** has also resigned from five committees, including the **Cabinet Committee**, **Economic Affairs**, **Health**, **Law & Justice**, and the **Rules & Procedures Committee**.
Azam Swati stated that the resignations are a form of protest against the current parliamentary system.
*”On the directions of our party leader, I have submitted my resignations. The standing committees have lost their relevance in the absence of the rule of law and the supremacy of the Constitution,”* he said.
Swati added that he has sent his resignation to PTI’s Parliamentary Leader in the Senate, **Barrister Ali Zafar**, who will forward them to the **Chairman Senate**.
This development follows the PTI founder’s call for all party-affiliated members to withdraw from Senate standing committees as part of a broader political strategy.
