Bureaucracy Responsible for Ruining Pakistan, Says Noor Alam Khan

ISLAMABAD: JUI-F MNA Noor Alam Khan on Monday strongly criticized Pakistan’s bureaucracy, calling it the “real thief” responsible for the country’s destruction. Speaking during the National Assembly session chaired by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, he said that whenever floods or terrorism strike, bureaucrats exploit the situation to make money.
He emphasized that encroachments on drains in Islamabad should be removed and questioned why societies are being built on riverbeds. Referring to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s PDMA, he said it failed to rescue 16 people during floods in Swat. “Politicians do not grab land; the land grabbers are Pakistan’s bureaucracy,” he asserted.
Other lawmakers also raised concerns. Saira Afzal Tarar said the 18th Amendment had created complications and urged both provinces and the federation to share responsibility and funds. Samina Khalid Ghurki questioned how large-scale development along the Ravi River was permitted, while Shahida Akhtar Ali warned against unchecked deforestation by the timber mafia. She added that accountability should not be limited to one company but applied collectively, as all are responsible for the prevailing conditions.
