Floodwaters Enter Gurdwara as Protective Embankment of River Ravi Breaches Near Kartarpur

Narowal: A protective embankment of the River Ravi near Kartarpur broke due to a heavy water flow, allowing floodwaters to enter the Gurdwara premises. As a result of the strong current, the Narowal-Shakargarh road has been closed to traffic.
According to private TV channel Samaa News, after India released water into the river, a flow of over 250,000 cusecs was recorded at Kot Nainan in Shakargarh. This surge caused a breach near Bhiku Chak, submerging areas including Bhiku Chak, Nowshera, Nogaza, Kartarpur Main Road, Mandi Khail, and Bhajna. The resulting inundation forced authorities to close the Narowal-Shakargarh road for all traffic.
Due to ongoing rains, a very high-level flood has also been reported in the Chenab River at Marala, with an inflow of 769,000 cusecs and an outflow of 762,000 cusecs. At Khanki, the Chenab’s flow stands at 705,000 cusecs.
The River Ravi is also experiencing extremely high flood levels at Jassar, with the flow recorded at 72,000 cusecs at Shahdara. At Balloki Headworks, the inflow is 79,000 cusecs and the outflow is 67,000 cusecs. Meanwhile, at Ganda Singh Wala, the flow is 245,000 cusecs, and at Sulemanki, it stands at 100,000 cusecs.
