Major FBR Action in Gerry’s Dnata Scandal Exposes Multi-Billion Rupee Cargo Fraud

ISLAMABAD (Qudrat News) – The Federal Board of Revenue Federal Board of Revenue has taken major action in the Gerry’s Dnata scandal at Karachi Airport, imposing a fine of Rs 2.7 billion on the company over alleged large-scale irregularities in air cargo clearance.

According to official documents, valuable electronic items including iPhones, laptops, MacBooks, and iPads were allegedly cleared illegally through fake gate passes at Jinnah International Airport. Investigations revealed that the goods were moved out without payment of customs duties and taxes.

Reports further stated that the scandal involved serious allegations such as concealment of airway bills, issuance of forged gate passes, and deletion of official records. FBR authorities have also ordered the recovery of an additional Rs 221 million in duties and taxes.

Investigators found evidence suggesting that customs laws were systematically violated through an organized network, while fake gate passes were allegedly generated from the Gerry’s Dnata system.

During the operation, customs officials arrested eight individuals, including five employees of the company. A female employee reportedly confessed to issuing fake gate passes on the instructions of supervisors.

Additionally, a detained cargo agent disclosed that the network had been operating for several years. The Federal Tax Ombudsman has also confirmed the existence of the large-scale cargo fraud.

Authorities said that following the operation, monitoring of air cargo operations across the country has been further tightened to prevent similar incidents in the future.
