Hub Dam Nears Full Capacity After Heavy Rains; Gwadar Dams Approach Dead Levels

Quetta:Heavy rains in Balochistan have significantly increased water levels in major dams, particularly the **Hub Dam**, which is now **just 6 feet away from reaching full capacity**, according to a report by the **Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA)**.

The **Hub Dam**, with a total capacity of **340 feet**, has reached **334 feet** after recent rainfall. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and preparations are underway for the possible opening of the **spillways** if the water level continues to rise.

In **Kech district**, the **Mirani Dam** currently holds **226 feet** of water against its total capacity of **246 feet**. In **Zhob district**, the **Sabakzai Dam** has a capacity of **94 feet**, with **30 feet** of water currently stored.

However, the situation in **Gwadar** remains concerning due to **lack of rainfall**, which has pushed the water levels in all **three major dams** near **dead levels**.
According to the PDMA report:

* **Shadi Kor Dam** (capacity: 82 feet) has only **2 feet** of water,
* **Sawar Dam** contains **1.5 feet**, and
* **Akra Kor Dam** has just **2 feet** of water remaining.

The authorities have urged for **immediate water conservation measures** in affected areas, especially Gwadar, to manage the looming water crisis.
