Internet Shutdown Violates Human Rights, Border Trade Must Resume Immediately: Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch

Quetta:Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan and MPA **Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch** has strongly condemned the ongoing internet suspension in the province, calling it a violation of basic human rights despite clear court orders for restoration. He made these remarks while addressing various events in **Gwadar**, highlighting the deteriorating situation in Balochistan.

He criticized the continued closure of trade routes and constitutional violations, saying that **”people are suffering under oppression, lawlessness, and injustice”**, and demanded that the **borders be reopened immediately to protect traders from economic ruin and starvation**.

Maulana Hidayat stated that **Jamaat-e-Islami, through its welfare wing Alkhidmat Foundation**, is actively supporting flood victims in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He directed district leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan to **set up relief camps in cities and public areas to raise funds** for those affected by floods and rains, urging people to contribute generously.

He lauded the efforts of **thousands of volunteers** under the central and provincial leadership of Alkhidmat, emphasizing that **”Jamaat-e-Islami doesn’t rely on slogans — it stands with the people in times of crisis.”**

Regarding the law and order situation, Maulana Hidayat said that **Balochistan has been turned into a “no-go area”**, with **unsafe roads, cities, and citizens living in fear**. He alleged that innocent individuals are being abducted instead of targeting terrorists or anti-state elements. According to him, **security forces have deviated from their role of protecting citizens and are instead involved in illegal businesses and extortion.**

He painted a bleak picture of the province:

* **Borders are closed**, restricting legal trade.
* **Internet access is blocked**, affecting education, e-commerce, and communication.
* **Roads are unsafe**, hampering transport and connectivity.
* **Students lack quality education**, and
* **Patients are deprived of proper healthcare**.

He questioned the motives behind these policies, saying,
*”Why has Balochistan been isolated and deprived of modern travel infrastructure like motorways? Why are people being provoked into anger and unrest?”*

He announced that Jamaat-e-Islami has launched the **”Haq Do Balochistan” campaign** to fight against these injustices, vowing to **wage a democratic struggle** to reclaim the province’s constitutional rights. He urged the people of Balochistan to join hands with Jamaat-e-Islami in this cause, promising a united resistance against those working against the interests of the people and the province.
