Wrestling Federation of India Suspends 11 Wrestlers for Submitting Fake Birth Certificates

Mumbai:The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has suspended 11 wrestlers after they were caught submitting fake birth certificates in an attempt to manipulate their age.

According to Indian media, the wrestlers were found guilty of age fraud during a verification process. Their birth certificates were either forged or digitally altered using Photoshop, and in some cases, certificates were issued 12 to 15 years after the actual date of birth.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi verified the documents of 95 wrestlers, which led to the exposure of age discrepancies in 11 cases.

The WFI stated, “We are committed to maintaining a clean and transparent system.” Of the 11 wrestlers found guilty, 6 have now been suspended, while the remaining 5 were suspended earlier.

This crackdown by the Wrestling Federation of India highlights its ongoing efforts to eliminate fraud and restore integrity in the sport.
