Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to Visit Pakistan Following Recent Indo-Pak Tensions

Islamabad: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is set to embark on a significant diplomatic mission to Pakistan later this month, marking his first visit to the country since the recent Indo-Pak conflict. The visit, scheduled for August 20 and 21, comes at a time when regional tensions and Pakistan’s increasingly close ties with the United States have drawn international attention.
According to official sources, Wang Yi will participate in the annual China-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue during his stay in Islamabad. The visit holds considerable importance not only for strengthening bilateral ties between China and Pakistan but also in the context of the evolving geopolitical landscape of South Asia.
The dialogue is expected to cover a wide range of topics, including bilateral relations, progress on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), defense cooperation, economic partnerships, and regional security issues.
The Pakistani delegation will be led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. This high-level engagement also comes shortly after Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s visit to Pakistan, while a planned visit by Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi was postponed due to undisclosed reasons.
Analysts suggest that the growing proximity between Islamabad and Washington is likely to be a critical point of discussion during the dialogue, along with the broader regional tensions, particularly the lingering strain between Pakistan and India and the uncertain situation in Afghanistan.
