Ongoing Efforts to Secure Global Partnerships for Karachi Circular Railway, Says Sharjeel Memon

Karachi: Sindh’s Senior Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, welcomed the efforts of the Senate Committee on Railways for the development of the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) and announced that ongoing discussions are being held with international partners, including the Asian Development Bank, to secure funding for the project.
In a statement, Minister Memon emphasized that the Sindh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Sindh, is fully committed to completing the KCR project. He assured that the Sindh government will prioritize the timely completion of the KCR to address the city’s growing transportation needs.
Memon also expressed hope for cooperation from the federal government to resolve any existing obstacles in the KCR project. He directed the Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA) to collaborate with Pakistan Railways to expedite the project’s progress.
The Senior Minister stated that the Karachi Circular Railway will become a critical transit facility for the city’s population of 25 million residents, providing much-needed transportation services. He further welcomed the suggestions put forward by the Senate Committee and expressed optimism that the remaining challenges will be resolved soon.
