Rehana Imtiaz Dar, Mother of PTI Leader Usman Dar, Arrested During Protest in Sialkot

SIALKOT/RAWALPINDI – Police have arrested Rehana Imtiaz Dar, the mother of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Usman Dar, during a protest in Sialkot.
According to an official statement shared by PTI Islamabad on its social media page, Rehana Dar was “forcibly detained from the premises of Aiwan-e-Adl.” The caption accompanying the shared video claimed, “This corrupt, immoral, and lawless system has been targeting women for the past three years.” It further stated that her only “crime” is standing for truth and refusing to bow before oppression.

Senior journalist Hamid Mir also posted the video of her arrest, criticizing the move. He remarked that arresting an elderly woman would not establish the rule of law, but rather the rule of fear. “Fear-based governance turns society into a hypocritical one,” he added.

The arrest has sparked outrage among political and media circles, raising fresh concerns over the treatment of women protestors and the continued crackdown on PTI supporters.
