Monsoon Rains in Balochistan Cause Fatalities and Damage: PDMA Report

QUETTA: The recent monsoon rains in Balochistan have resulted in significant human and material losses, according to a report from the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA). As of now, 16 people, including women and children, have lost their lives, and 8 others have been injured due to the adverse weather conditions.
The casualties were reported from several districts, including Zhob, Ziarat, Musa Khel, Khuzdar, Loralai, Lasbela, and Kohlu. The rains and stormy weather have caused extensive damage, with 58 houses affected. Among these, 47 houses were partially damaged, while 11 were completely destroyed.
The PDMA has stated that relief efforts are ongoing in the affected districts, with residents being moved to safer locations. Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious, as more rainfall is expected in the coming days, raising concerns of further damage.
The situation highlights the vulnerability of certain areas to seasonal floods and the need for enhanced preparedness and response measures to mitigate the impact of such disasters.
