JI Balochistan Leader Hidayat ur Rehman Announces Long March to Islamabad Against Injustice, Resource Exploitation

Quetta: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan and Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman Baloch has announced a long march towards Islamabad on July 25, stating it will be a protest against systemic injustices, resource exploitation, enforced disappearances, border restrictions, and illegal checkpoints in Balochistan.

Speaking at the provincial secretariat during a meeting with various delegations, Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman declared that the “Haqq Do Balochistan” campaign would now enter its decisive phase. “Jamaat-e-Islami will become the voice of Balochistan’s oppressed people. We will continue our struggle until justice and rights are secured for the people,” he said.

He emphasized that neither the people nor their resources are safe in the current environment, and accused the federal rulers in Islamabad of looting Balochistan’s wealth, denying fundamental rights, and pushing the province towards political and economic isolation.

Calling on the youth, religious scholars, and citizens from all walks of life, he urged them to actively join the movement and the upcoming long march. “District emirs and campaign organizers must intensify efforts to ensure the success of the Islamabad march,” he stated.

Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman heavily criticized the establishment and government institutions for widespread corruption, drug proliferation, lawlessness, and human rights violations. “People are unsafe in both cities and rural areas. Even schoolchildren are not spared, while the elderly are humiliated at checkpoints,” he lamented.

He pointed to the growing exploitation of Balochistan’s natural resources, especially under the guise of mega-projects like CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor). “While other regions benefit from highways, modern infrastructure, and employment, Balochistan receives only check posts and police stations in the name of development,” he said.

He added that the situation has reached a point where peaceful protests are being criminalized and Balochistan has been turned into a prison, with its people stripped of their dignity, rights, and opportunities.

“Jamaat-e-Islami’s leadership is free from corruption, and the people’s hopes now rest with us. We will not rest until the people of Balochistan are given their rightful share in resources, respect, education, employment, and peace,” he declared.

The “Haqq Do Balochistan” campaign, he said, is a peaceful, democratic movement, and the long march to Islamabad is aimed at waking up those in power and forcing them to listen to Balochistan’s voice.
