CBC Declares 125 Buildings as Dangerous in Clifton, Owners and Tenants Urged to Vacate or Demolish Immediately

Karachi: The Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) has identified 125 buildings as unsafe following an initial survey of dilapidated structures in the area. The buildings, which have been declared dangerous, are located in various localities, and owners and tenants have been instructed to vacate or demolish them immediately.
According to the CBC’s official statement, the affected buildings are spread across several neighborhoods, including 51 in Delhi Colony, 16 in Madniabad, 7 in Lower Gizri, 5 in Chaudhry Khalique-ul-Zaman Colony, 14 in Punjab Colony, 27 in Pak Jamhuriat Colony, and 5 in Bakhshan Village. The buildings have been deemed to be in a deteriorating and hazardous condition, with the potential to cause serious risks to both human lives and property, particularly during the monsoon season.
The public has been warned not to approach these unsafe buildings, and further surveys are underway, with additional buildings in other areas expected to be identified in the coming days.
The CBC has issued a directive to both building owners and tenants to either evacuate or demolish the structures immediately. Failure to comply will result in legal action under the Cantonment Act of 1924. The board has also made it clear that it will not be held responsible for any loss of life or property caused by the collapse of these buildings, and no claims or compensation will be accepted.
Affected individuals have been advised to conduct structural inspections by a registered engineer from the Pakistan Engineering Council and submit the reports promptly. Delays in addressing these issues could result in further damage, and the matter has now reached a critical level.
