Punjab Announces Major Decision on Salaries and Pensions for Government Employees

Lahore: After the federal government’s decision, Punjab has also made a significant move regarding pensions for its government employees.
According to reports, retired government employees in Punjab will now be entitled to receive one salary after retirement if they choose to rejoin government service. The Punjab Finance Department has issued an official notification outlining this new provision.
The notification specifies that employees who re-enter government service will have the option to either receive their pension or take the salary for their new position, but not both. They must choose one — either the pension or the salary from their new job.
This decision aligns with similar policies at the federal level and aims to streamline benefits for retired government employees re-entering the workforce.
