Chairman Haji Naseer Pleads for Border Reopenings and Economic Relief for Balochistan
Turbat:Haji Naseer Pleizi, Chairman of the Tehreek Balochistan District Kech, addressed a crowded press conference at the Turbat Press Club alongside leaders of the movement including Essi Ghami, Saeed Jumma, Maulana Nasir Ahmed, Sadiq Fatah, Maulana Abdul Rahman, and others. He stated that the Pak-Iran border, which connects Makran, needs to be reopened for the import of essential goods from Iran, as this border is the sole route for our livelihoods, where we earn our bread and butter through hard work. However, some selfish and influential figures want to completely seize this from us, which has put the public in severe distress.
He further mentioned that those engaged in border trade face immense difficulties; people are suffering from various issues. The situation is dire for truck drivers and small landowners. He asserted that the vilification of Baloch drivers under the pretext of “smuggling” must cease immediately as it is deeply injuring our self-esteem.
Recently, government offices and authorities announced two days of weekly holidays, which is sheer injustice. Friday is designated as a day off for administrative and line vehicles, so Friday’s holiday should be immediately rescinded. This decision is unacceptable as it means the hearths of poor drivers will remain cold.
He demanded that all borders including Jallagi Border, Gurbani Border, Sangawand Dushtak Border, and Dusht-e-Mand Border should be reopened. He warned that if the district administration and provincial government do not take serious steps on their demands, protests and strikes will erupt across Makran.
