Governor Balochistan Stresses Urgent Need for Technical University to Boost Employment and Economic Growth

Quetta:Governor of Balochistan, Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, emphasized the urgent need for establishing a technical university in the province, stating that education without modern skills is incomplete in today’s world. Speaking during a meeting with a delegation of professors and lecturers from Polytechnic College, the Governor underlined the importance of integrating all technical and vocational institutions under a unified polytechnic university.

He said that by fostering strong collaboration between academia and industry, the province can produce job-ready graduates and develop a robust technical education system to support economic development and prosperity.

“This is the age of technical expertise,” said Governor Mandokhail, “but unfortunately, our polytechnic colleges still have a long way to go. If we effectively harness the power of technical and vocational training, we can significantly reduce unemployment.”

He stressed the need to equip students with the skills demanded by the job market and called for decisive steps to transform Quetta’s polytechnic colleges into centers of excellence. “Providing these institutions with modern facilities will empower our students to succeed in the employment sector and contribute to the province’s economic advancement.”

Highlighting the potential impact of a dedicated technical university, the Governor added, “Such an institution will not only ensure access to quality education and training but also bridge the gap between theory and practice.”

He also encouraged offering scholarships to talented yet underprivileged students to pursue technical education in other provinces or countries. “Graduates of polytechnic colleges—engineers and skilled professionals—will serve as drivers of economic growth,” he concluded.
