NHA Increases Toll Tax by Up to 50% for Non-M-Tag and Low Balance Vehicles on Motorways

The National Highway Authority (NHA) has announced a significant increase of up to 50% in toll tax rates for vehicles without M-Tag or with insufficient balance, effective from **June 15, 2025**. The move aims to enforce mandatory use of M-Tags and ensure smoother traffic flow on motorways.
According to the official notification, the new toll rates for **non-M-Tag or low balance cars** are as follows:
* **Islamabad to Lahore Motorway:** Rs. 1800
* **Lahore to Abdul Hakeem:** Rs. 1200
* **Pindi Bhattian to Multan:** Rs. 1600
* **Multan to Sukkur:** Rs. 1800
* **D.I. Khan to Hakla:** Rs. 1000
* **Hassan Abdal to Mansehra Expressway:** Rs. 450
Revised rates for **commercial vehicles** have also been introduced:
* **Lahore to Islamabad:**
* Two and three-axle trucks: Rs. 7900
* Articulated trucks: Rs. 10,200
The NHA has urged citizens to equip their vehicles with M-Tags before the deadline and maintain sufficient balance to avoid paying higher toll charges. The authority emphasized that the decision is part of efforts to promote digital toll collection and reduce congestion at toll plazas.
Motorists can get M-Tags installed and recharged at designated service centers or via mobile applications.
