Speaker Ayaz Sadiq: No Anti-Pakistan, Judiciary, or Military Remarks Allowed in National Assembly

Lahore: Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, has stated that no one will be allowed to speak against Pakistan, its judiciary, or its armed forces within the National Assembly.

Speaking during his visit to the National College of Arts (NCA), Sardar Ayaz Sadiq praised the institution as one of the country’s leading universities, noting that its students engage in research-based creative work and have achieved national recognition.

He clarified that, as Speaker, he does not belong to either the government or opposition and will perform his role impartially. While acknowledging the right to protest, he emphasized that demonstrations must not involve arson, destruction, or violence, as the presence of sticks and firearms is concerning.

Sadiq stressed that discussions in the National Assembly must remain within constitutional limits. Any remarks against Pakistan, the judiciary, judges, or the armed forces will not be permitted. He added that he consults with the Prime Minister, who does not restrict him in fulfilling his duties, and highlighted that opposition members, including Mahmood Achakzai, must also adhere to these rules.

The Speaker further mentioned that Pakistan’s economy is strengthening, with foreign exchange reserves reaching $40 billion. He noted the country maintains friendly relations with the U.S., China, Russia, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia. On a broader note, he remarked that every country has its mafias, and it is the responsibility of the public to confront them.
