Opposition Walks Out of Balochistan Assembly Over B-Area to A-Area Conversion Decision

Quetta:A heated session of the Balochistan Assembly, chaired by Deputy Speaker Ghazala Gola, saw a walkout by opposition members in protest against the provincial government’s decision to convert B-Area into A-Area zones.

Opposition lawmakers alleged that the decision was made under the leadership of Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti without proper consultation. They expressed concerns that such a major administrative move undermines the authority of the provincial assembly.

Zabid Ali Reki emphasized that all decisions impacting Balochistan should be made within the Balochistan Assembly, not externally. Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman accused the provincial government of being run from Islamabad, to which fellow lawmaker Zarak Mandokhail responded affirmatively, stating, “Yes, absolutely — this government is operating on federal instructions.”

The protest highlights ongoing tensions between the opposition and the provincial government over governance and autonomy-related issues.
