Hyderabad’s 40-Maund Bull ‘JF-17 Thunder’ Steals Spotlight Ahead of Eid-ul-Adha

Hyderabad:As Eid-ul-Adha approaches, the hustle and bustle of sacrificial animal markets is gaining momentum across the country. Among the many eye-catching animals, a massive 40-maund (approximately 1,600 kg) bull named **‘JF-17 Thunder’** in Hyderabad has become the center of attention and a social media sensation.

Citizens from nearby towns and cities have been flocking to the cattle market to get a glimpse of the enormous bull — many even taking selfies with it. The bull’s owner, Shahrukh, set a price of **Rs. 5 million (50 lakh)** for the majestic animal, which was reportedly accepted by a buyer.

To mark the occasion of the sale, Shahrukh hosted a decorated gathering tent, where the buyers were warmly welcomed. Guests and hosts exchanged floral garlands, money garlands, and traditional *Ajrak* shawls as part of the cultural celebration.

The bull’s sale and price sparked a flood of reactions online. One user, Ali, remarked, “Eid drama season has officially started,” while another called it a clever marketing strategy. Umar Bashir noted, “The market seems very expensive this year.”

Some users made light-hearted comments, with one joking, “Better to buy a J-10C jet — cheaper and more effective,” while another quipped, “Don’t say that, Indians might get offended.”

While many admired the bull’s beauty and grandeur, others criticized the extravagance. Some users expressed concern over how Eid’s spirit of sacrifice is being overshadowed by showmanship. “Sacrifice has become a fashion trend,” said one user, “Islam is being sidelined while people chase social trends.”

Despite the mixed reactions, one thing is clear: **‘JF-17 Thunder’** has become the unexpected star of this year’s Eid cattle markets, reflecting both the cultural flair and commercialization that often accompany the festival in modern times.
