Jamaat-e-Islami’s Hidayat-ur-Rehman Slams Border Closures, Enforced Disappearances in Balochistan

Quetta:Member of the Provincial Assembly and Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch, has strongly criticized the ongoing border closures, enforced disappearances, and economic suppression in Balochistan, stating that these actions have mentally paralyzed the province’s youth, traders, and citizens.

Speaking at a gathering and during meetings with various delegations, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman said that the already scarce employment opportunities in Balochistan have been entirely wiped out by the closure of borders. “It appears that the powerful institutions have decided to seize control over Balochistan’s borders, resources, minerals, and all trade,” he claimed.

He emphasized that while Balochistan is rich in borders, minerals, and natural resources, its people are deprived of basic human rights. “Every day, young men fall victim to enforced disappearances. Their mothers cry for them, their wives live between despair and hope. This waiting becomes a lifelong torment,” he said.

The Jamaat-e-Islami leader questioned the legality and morality of these disappearances. “What is their crime? If there are any allegations, why are they not produced in court? Why do our laws seem to apply only to specific regions or people? Will disappearing Baloch youth solve Balochistan’s problems?”

He lamented the irony that while Balochistan supplies the country with vital resources — including gas, coal, chromite, Saindak, and Reko Diq minerals — its people remain in darkness. “Our schools are deserted, our hospitals lack basic facilities, and our youth are gripped by hopelessness.”

He called for an end to border restrictions, equal rights, and the recovery of missing persons. “The solution to Balochistan’s issues lies not in oppression, silence, and neglect, but in justice, dialogue, and constitutional equality,” he said.

Hidayat-ur-Rehman reiterated that Jamaat-e-Islami will continue to raise its voice on every platform against injustice and for the recovery of missing persons. He urged the youth to join Jamaat-e-Islami’s “Haq Do Tehreek” (Give Us Our Rights Movement) to fight for justice, rights, and the end of oppression in Balochistan.
