National Party Condemns Exploitation of Local Youth in Reko Diq Project, Vows Joint Protest with Other Parties

Nokundi: The National Party Chaghi has issued a press release strongly condemning the ongoing exploitation of local youth in the Reko Diq mining project. The party criticized the recruitment practices of contractors, especially Capital Drilling’s mining department, for hiring a majority of non-Baloch individuals from Sindh and other provinces, while sidelining qualified local candidates.
The party claims that the Reko Diq Mining Company (RDMC) and the project administration are complicit in these discriminatory practices by remaining silent on the injustices carried out by non-local contractors, which the party labeled as anti-Baloch policies.
The statement further alleges that certain contractors, including GESCO Chenai and others, are conducting interviews and recruitment with the help of Sindhi officers, enabling laborers brought in from outside Balochistan to secure jobs in Reko Diq. In contrast, local applicants are being subjected to complicated online application procedures, deliberately designed to exclude them from employment opportunities.
It was also highlighted that even higher-level positions, such as one recently given to a Higher Education Commission (HEC) officer from Sindh, have been awarded to non-locals at the expense of qualified and experienced youth from the region.
The National Party expressed concern over the growing frustration and disillusionment among the local population, warning that such practices could foster resentment and hostility towards the Reko Diq project—an outcome detrimental to its long-term success.
The party, which describes itself as progressive and committed to regional development, announced it will not remain silent on what it termed the looting of local employment opportunities. A strong protest movement will soon be launched in collaboration with other political parties and stakeholders.
