Pakistan to Send High-Level Delegation for Trade Talks with the US on New Tariffs

Islamabad: Pakistan has decided to send a high-level delegation to the United States to engage in negotiations regarding the promotion of trade relations and the newly imposed tariffs on imports. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed that prominent business figures and exporters be included in the delegation.
The delegation will be tasked with negotiating the new tariffs imposed by the United States and formulating a mutually beneficial roadmap for the future, as per instructions from the Prime Minister.
A review meeting on Pakistan’s exports and the new tariffs was held today in Islamabad, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office, the meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Ministers Ahsan Khan Cheema, Mohammad Aurangzeb, Ali Parvez Malik, Prime Minister’s Advisor Syed Taqeer Shah, Special Assistants Tariq Fatemi, Haroon Akhtar, Prime Minister’s Coordinator Rana Ihsan Afzal, and other senior officials.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister was briefed on the new tariffs imposed by the United States, as well as the Steering Committee and Working Group’s report, which presented proposed future action plans. The meeting also reviewed several alternative action plans, and it was reported that the Pakistani Embassy in the United States is in constant contact with the US government regarding the issue.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of including renowned business figures and exporters in the delegation. He stated that Pakistan’s trade relations with the United States have spanned decades, and the government is eager to further strengthen the bilateral trade partnership.
