Shraddha Kapoor Faces Criticism After Director’s Controversial Comments About Her Laughter

Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor, who rose to fame with the film *Stree*, has recently found herself at the center of controversy after *Stree*’s producer, Amar Kaushik, made an eyebrow-raising remark about her laughter. In a recent interview, Kaushik shared his thoughts on casting Shraddha in the film and described her laughter as being “like a witch” or “chudail.”
Kaushik credited Dinesh Vijan, the producer of *Stree*, for bringing Shraddha into the film. According to Kaushik, Vijan had met Shraddha on a flight and after their encounter, he said to Kaushik, “When Shraddha laughs, she sounds like a witch.” Despite the unconventional compliment, Kaushik expressed regret and apologized to Shraddha, calling her “sorry” for the comment.
When Kaushik met Shraddha, he apparently told her to laugh, and soon after, decided to cast her in the film. However, the comments did not sit well with Shraddha’s fans, who quickly took to social media to criticize Kaushik. Many fans were upset, questioning how Kaushik could use such language about the actress. Some even suggested that Shraddha should stop working with him in the future.
The film *Stree 2*, which is a sequel to the 2018 film *Stree*, also stars actors Rajkummar Rao, Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee, and Pankaj Tripathi. Directed by Amar Kaushik and written by Niren Bhatt, the film became a massive hit, grossing over 600 crore Indian Rupees at the box office and surpassing Shah Rukh Khan’s *Jawan* and Ranbir Kapoor’s *Animal* in the competition.
While the success of *Stree 2* is being celebrated, the controversy surrounding Kaushik’s comments about Shraddha Kapoor has sparked a debate about respect for actors in the film industry and the boundaries of humor.
