Crackdown Against Electricity Theft Yields Over PKR 103 Billion Across Pakistan

Quetta:In a significant development against electricity theft, authorities have recovered more than PKR 103 billion nationwide through a rigorous crackdown campaign. According to “Quetta” newspaper, over 83,000 electricity thieves have been apprehended as part of the ongoing efforts to curb power pilferage, aimed at revitalizing the national economy and alleviating public distress caused by power shortages.

The successful initiative, spearheaded by government and military leadership, has resulted in substantial financial recoveries, underscoring its impact on national economic stability. During the period from June 23 to June 30, relevant agencies seized over PKR 1.8 billion from electricity thieves in Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, and Islamabad alone.

In parallel efforts, PKR 603.5 million were recovered from Peshawar, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Quetta, marking a significant stride in the fight against power theft across major cities. The crackdown not only aims to restore accountability but also to ensure equitable access to electricity resources for all citizens.
