Imran Khan Opposes Renaming of Arbab Niaz Stadium*

The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, has expressed his opposition to the renaming of the Arbab Niaz Stadium.

In a media interaction outside Adiala Jail, Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, shared that the change in the stadium’s name had displeased Imran Khan. She stated that Imran Khan had directed that the name be reverted to its original one.

Aleema Khan also mentioned that she was unsure how Imran Khan learned about this development, perhaps through a newspaper, but she emphasized that his stance was clear – he had never made such a decision himself and did not approve of such actions.

It is noteworthy that last month, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet approved the renaming of Peshawar’s Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium in honor of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Subsequently, reports emerged that the Arbab family was planning to challenge this decision in court. Arbab Tariq, the son of Arbab Niaz and former Mayor of Peshawar, announced that he would file a petition in court against the provincial government’s decision to rename the stadium.
