Shapoor Zadran Announces Retirement from International Cricket

Afghanistan’s left-arm fast bowler Shapoor Zadran has announced his retirement from international cricket.

Making his debut for Afghanistan in 2009, Shapoor Zadran revealed his retirement decision via social media on Thursday. He expressed that leaving cricket was the hardest decision of his life. Zadran shared that his journey began during one of the most challenging times for Afghan cricket, where he faced numerous obstacles, played with limited resources, and overcame many challenges, but he never gave up.

Zadran thanked his cricket fans, teammates, coaches, and especially his family for their constant support throughout his career. He expressed gratitude to all those who supported him during his long journey.

Over the course of his career, Shapoor Zadran played 44 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 36 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), where he claimed a total of 80 wickets. His last match for Afghanistan was played in 2020, and at the age of 37, he bid farewell to the game of cricket on Thursday.
