Imran Khan Makes Major Changes in PTI Leadership in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has made significant decisions regarding the leadership of his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). He has appointed new leaders for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s party presidency has been handed over to Member of National Assembly, Junaid Akbar, replacing Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. Meanwhile, in Punjab, the responsibility to energize the party has been given to Aaliya Hamza, who has been appointed as the Chief Organizer.
**Why the Changes in Leadership?**
According to party sources, Imran Khan was dissatisfied with the performance of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. As a result, the party leadership position in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was reassigned to Junaid Akbar, who belongs to a faction within the party opposed to Gandapur. Sources revealed that Imran Khan was not pleased with Gandapur’s protest strategy, and First Lady Bushra Bibi had also expressed discontent after the long march on November 24. Similarly, Imran Khan was not satisfied with the performance of PTI Punjab president Hamad Azhar.
Sources stated that despite multiple messages from Imran Khan, the leadership in Punjab remained largely inactive, contributing to the party’s stagnation. To break the impasse in Punjab, Imran Khan appointed Aaliya Hamza as Chief Organizer to revitalize the party in the province.
**What is Imran Khan’s New Strategy?**
According to sources, Imran Khan has decided to return to the streets with renewed vigor. Instructions have already been issued to the party, with the first major task being the protest scheduled for February 8. It is also reported that after the holy month of Ramadan, Imran Khan might call for another march towards Islamabad, with plans for more protests to be organized during Ramadan as well.
The leadership changes and upcoming protests indicate that Imran Khan is planning to regain momentum and push forward with his political strategy despite the ongoing challenges.
