Viral Infection Cases Surge in Lahore: Possible COVID-19 Spread Identified

Lahore is witnessing an increase in cases of viral infections, with patients reporting symptoms such as high fever, cough, and body aches. Health experts have raised concerns about the potential spread of the coronavirus.
Over the past three weeks, hundreds of patients have reported to both public and private hospitals and clinics in the city. Given the symptoms, health professionals suspect the ongoing viral infection might be linked to COVID-19. However, due to the emergence of various strains of the virus, doctors are no longer recommending routine COVID-19 tests. According to private laboratories, many people are not opting for COVID tests, and the Punjab Health Department is not conducting them either.
Professor Irfan Malik, Head of Pulmonology at the Medical University, confirmed the ongoing spread of COVID-19, noting an increase in hospital admissions. He advised citizens to wear masks in crowded places and to self-isolate if any symptoms appear.
Health experts are urging the public to take precautionary measures, including the use of masks in crowded areas and isolating when symptoms of viral infections are noticed, to prevent further spread.
