Quetta:On the 17th **death anniversary** of **Shaheed Benazir Bhutto**, **Senior Provincial Minister of Balochistan**, **Member of PPP’s Central Committee**, **Parliamentary Leader**, and **Minister for Irrigation**, **Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani**, expressed deep sorrow and reverence in a statement, remembering the tragic day when the former Prime Minister was assassinated in a **terrorist attack**. He described the assassination as a **dark chapter** in Pakistan’s political history, where a patriotic and astute leader like **Benazir Bhutto** was targeted in a ruthless attempt to achieve political objectives through violence.
Mir Sadiq Umrani emphasized that the **Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)** has always been a **party of martyrs**, having endured **sacrifices**, including the **martyrdom** of founding leader **Zulfikar Ali Bhutto**, party leaders, and countless workers over the years. He added that the party has faced immense hardships, including **imprisonment** and **persecution**, in its continued struggle for justice, democracy, and the **voice of the oppressed**.
Reflecting on **Benazir Bhutto’s** unparalleled leadership, he stated, “Shaheed Benazir Bhutto was the only leader in the Muslim world to have served as a **Prime Minister**. She remains one of Asia’s most influential women, whose **political insight** and **leadership skills** made her a beloved political figure not only in Pakistan but globally.”
Mir Sadiq Umrani further stated that the **27th of December**, the day of **Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s assassination**, should serve as a moment to **renew our commitment** to the ideals of the **Bhutto family**. “On this day, we honor the sacrifices of the **Bhutto family** and pledge to continue working towards the **progress**, **unity**, and **stability** of Pakistan, no matter the personal cost,” he affirmed.
