GHQ Attack Case: Shah Mehmood Qureshi and 9 Others Indicted
Rawalpindi: Additional Charges Laid After Over 100 Indicted in the Case
In the latest developments of the GHQ attack case, nine more accused, including senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders, were formally indicted after the trial resumed at Adiala Jail. The case is being heard by Judge Amjad Ali Shah in the Anti-Terrorism Court.
The newly indicted individuals include prominent PTI figures such as Shehryar Mazari, Raja Rashid Hafeez, Khadim Hussain, Zakir Ullah, Azeem Ullah Khan, Major Tahir Sadiq, Mehr Muhammad Javed, Chaudhry Asif, and Muneer.
However, senior PTI leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Colonel Ajmal Sabir Raja, and Sikandar Zib refused to sign the charge sheet. The accused cited insufficient evidence and requested that their plea under Section 265-D be heard before proceeding with the indictment. They argued that the charges should be reconsidered once the court makes a decision on their petition.
In the same session, the prosecution requested the cancellation of bail for 23 other suspects, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. The court has issued notices on this request.
The charges against the accused include sedition, terrorism, attempted murder, arson, and conspiracy. Former PTI chairman Imran Khan was also presented before the court in a special session at Adiala Jail. The hearing has been adjourned until December 19 for further proceedings.
