Severe Cold Grips Punjab, Lahore, and Other Areas as Snowfall Hits Mountainous Regions

Islamabad: Pakistan is experiencing a severe cold wave, with most areas expected to remain dry and cold. Heavy snowfall and rain are forecasted for the northern mountainous regions, which will likely increase the intensity of cold across the country.
According to the Meteorological Department, temperatures in northern areas have plummeted to extreme lows, with Hunza recording -18°C, Astore at -17°C, Skardu at -10°C, and Quetta at a minimum of 1°C.
In Punjab, including Lahore, a significant cold snap has gripped the region. The capital, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi have recorded temperatures around 4°C, while Lahore and Peshawar saw temperatures drop to 7°C.
In Karachi, the cold is expected to intensify further. The city’s minimum temperature yesterday was recorded at 13°C, and it is expected to drop to around 10°C in the coming days.
The weather in Quetta and surrounding areas remains partly cloudy and cold, while the interior of Balochistan and northeastern districts are experiencing harsh cold. Minimum temperatures in the region have been recorded as follows: Quetta and Kalat at -5°C, Sibi at 5°C, and Nokundi at 3°C.
The Meteorological Department predicts that over the next 24 hours, the weather will remain dry with chilly nights and occasional gusty winds.
