Gas Supply Disruption in Karachi Causes Widespread Issues for Residents

Karachi: Residents of several areas in Karachi are facing severe difficulties due to the suspension of gas supply. Affected areas include **Gulshan-e-Iqbal**, **North Karachi**, **Sir Syed Town**, and **Manzoor Colony**, among others. Complaints of complete gas outages have also been reported from **Khawaja Ajmeer Nagar**, **North Nazimabad**, and **Lyari**.

In addition, several blocks in **Malir** and **Gulistan-e-Jauhar** have experienced unexpected gas cuts, further escalating the problems for the city’s population.

Residents have expressed frustration, particularly as **Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC)** had scheduled the resumption of gas supply until 10 PM, but the gas was cut off an hour earlier than promised.

### Winter Gas Supply Schedule
On December 12, **Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL)** announced a new winter gas supply plan to ensure consistent pressure for consumers during the colder months. According to the new plan, gas will be available to consumers at three different times of the day:

1. **Morning**: 6 AM to 9 AM
2. **Afternoon**: 12 PM to 2 PM
3. **Evening**: 6 PM to 9 PM

SNGPL clarified that this schedule is designed in line with government directives to ensure gas is supplied at full pressure during these designated hours.

During the winter months, gas consumption typically increases due to the higher demand for heaters and boilers. Additionally, shorter daylight hours and poor insulation in homes lead to more heat loss, further contributing to the rise in gas usage. This increased demand, combined with the gas supply disruptions, has left many residents struggling to meet their basic needs.
