Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Condemns Attack on Road Construction Machinery in Turbat

Turbat:The Adviser to the Chief Minister of Balochistan for Sports and Youth Affairs, Madam Meena Majid, has urged the public to rise against terrorism and sabotage, emphasizing that any obstruction in road construction is nothing but anti-public behavior. She strongly condemned the burning of construction machinery for the Turbat-Mand Road and termed it an act of terrorism that must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.

Addressing a press conference at the Turbat Press Club on Saturday evening, Meena Majid condemned the attack on the construction machinery on December 12, during road repair work. She pointed out that the incident, which involved the burning of company vehicles, had caused significant harm to the people of Mand and Turbat, as it hindered their progress and development. “Obstructing development is tantamount to harming the public and pushing them further into deprivation. The ultimate goal is to create despair among the people and drive a wedge between them and the state,” she said.

She urged the public to raise their voices against such negative actions, to condemn terrorism, and send a clear message to the perpetrators to stop their disruptive activities. “While we strive to pass schemes for the convenience of the people, whenever work begins, terrorists try to sabotage public welfare projects,” she added.

Meena Majid also called on the media to adopt a development-friendly policy and focus on disseminating positive news to promote progress and harmony in society. She pointed out the hardships faced by the people due to poor road infrastructure, stating that patients faced extreme difficulties, and the travel time for a one-hour journey had extended to four hours.

The advisor highlighted the successful conclusion of the Makran Youth Festival, noting that it had provided a positive message to the youth of the region. She shared that various initiatives were underway to address youth issues, with the Chief Minister of Balochistan taking a personal interest in youth welfare. She mentioned several projects under consideration, including the Youth Endowment Fund, Youth Scholarships, Youth Cards, and Laptop Schemes. Furthermore, plans are in place to train and send 30,000 young men and women from Balochistan abroad for skill development.

Madam Meena Majid also spoke about the preservation of historical sites such as the Sassi Punnu Fort, mentioning that steps were being taken to protect it and develop it for tourism. In addition, she highlighted several key projects in the current PSDP (Public Sector Development Program), such as the provision of additional ICU facilities at Turbat Teaching Hospital, the construction of a boundary wall and missing facilities at RHC Mand, and the construction of a women’s common room at the University of Turbat. Other initiatives include the construction of rooms for the Malafazal Club in Mand and the implementation of solar system projects for women.

She further emphasized that the improvement of sports infrastructure was one of her top priorities, with a focus on building new stadiums and revitalizing existing ones. “These projects have been initiated with public needs in mind, and I am personally overseeing their progress,” she added.

In her closing remarks, Meena Majid announced efforts to include the Balochi language in the primary school curriculum, so children can have a better understanding of their mother tongue. She expressed optimism for the bright future of Balochistan’s youth and urged the media to promote development and unity in society. She also called on journalists to present the truth and refrain from amplifying negative elements.

Madam Meena Majid concluded by expressing her hope that the Chief Minister of Balochistan would support these initiatives and ensure the successful completion of projects aimed at public welfare.
