Democratic Party Announces Accountability of President Trump’s Policies and Limiting His Powers

WASHINGTON (Daily Qudrat): After a resounding victory in the US midterm elections, the Democratic Party has announced that it will hold President Donald Trump’s policies accountable and limit his powers, raising fears of political tension and legislative gridlock in Washington over the next two years.

The Democrats secured a majority by winning 54 seats in the Senate, while also adding 30 seats in the House of Representatives. Democratic Majority Leader Hakeem Jeffries has said that his party’s priorities will include addressing the inflation problems faced by the people and holding the Trump administration accountable.

In his first public address after the election defeat, President Trump gave a tour of the new ballroom under construction at the White House and said he wants to make the building the finest as a symbol of America. Trump, expressing a desire for cooperation with the Democrats, warned that if they create difficulties for the government, he will use his presidential veto power.

In the election results, the war with Iran, inflation and Trump’s economic policies are being cited as major reasons for the Republican Party’s defeat. In Texas, Democrats won a Senate seat for the first time since 1988, while in Kansas a Democratic senator was elected after a century. Meanwhile, Senate results in Alaska and Mississippi are yet to be announced, which could increase the Democrats’ majority to 56 seats. After the new Congress convenes in January, Democrats will be able to use their powers to launch investigations against the Trump administration, impose conditions on key legislation and block confirmation of presidential nominations.
