We Will Launch a Nationwide Movement Against an Undemocratic Government: Mahmood Khan Achakzai
ISLAMABAD (Daily Qudrat): Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party Chairman and head of the Movement for the Protection of the Constitution of Pakistan Mahmood Khan Achakzai, speaking to the media at JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s residence after the United Opposition meeting, said that we fundamentally represent the Movement for the Protection of the Constitution of Pakistan and all those political parties whose objective is to make this country a strong federation where the supremacy of the Constitution is established, parliament is the real source of power, and the axis of the country’s politics is Pakistan’s parliament, from where all internal and external policies of the state are formulated. We have all gathered here and expressed complete solidarity with Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Leader of the Opposition Mahmood Khan Achakzai said that the manner in which Maulana Sahib is being subjected to character assassination and the way he has been attacked — we strongly condemn this blatant excess. We want to make it clear that these tactics will no longer work. If anyone speaks the truth and right and points out mistakes, then this hostile attitude in response will not only cloud the country’s political atmosphere but push the situation to a dangerous point.
Leader of the Opposition Mahmood Khan Achakzai said that a committee has already been formed regarding the holding of the All Parties Conference (APC), and God willing, its date will be formally announced this very month of November. Along with this, a committee has also been formed to remove doubts between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam so that all matters can be resolved through mutual understanding. God willing, such a strong and stable alliance will be formed in Pakistan that will firmly confront every kind of undemocratic force in the country, and we will launch a nationwide movement against this undemocratic government.
We all unanimously condemn in the strongest terms the insult to the opinion and mandate of the four crore people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The unconstitutional manner in which Governor’s Rule has been imposed in the province reminds us of the early period of Pakistan’s creation when Qayyum Khan was given boundless powers and the people were oppressed and jails were filled. It should be clear that we have faced all these oppressive tactics before as well. Avoid launching unjust attacks on us and poking us. God forbid, may this confrontation not lead to an incident that no one is able to handle.
