Pakistan govt approves new national curriculum for schools from academic year 2027-28

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Ministry of Education has approved Pakistan’s National Curriculum 2026 for public and private schools, with implementation set to begin in the 2027-28 academic year.
As per reports, the new curriculum will be introduced in federal educational institutions nationwide, including Islamabad. It will initially cover early childhood education and students from Grade 1 to Grade 5.
Under the revised curriculum, Urdu, English and Mathematics will remain core subjects. The early grades will also include Health and Physical Education and Arts to support students’ overall learning and development.
The curriculum will teach Information and Communication Technology (ICT) from Grade 1 to Grade 5, introducing students to technology and digital learning early.
However, the curriculum also outlines changes to subjects taught at different grade levels. Students in Grades 1 to 3 will study World Around Us, while Social Studies and Science will be introduced as separate subjects in Grades 4 and 5.
The Federal Ministry of Education has notified all provinces, including Punjab, about implementing the new national curriculum.
The National Curriculum of Pakistan 2026 will also be available on the Pakistan National Curriculum Council website, allowing educational institutions and relevant stakeholders to access its details.
The revised framework is intended to provide a common curriculum structure for public and private schools, beginning with early childhood education and primary-level classes.
