“I Will Resign If Even One Rupee of Corruption Is Proven Against Me,” Says Maryam Nawaz

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said she would resign if even a single rupee of corruption is proven against her, reaffirming her government’s commitment to eliminating corruption across the province.

Addressing a ceremony in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz said that workers could not perform their duties effectively in an environment where protests and vandalism take place on a daily basis. She stressed that ensuring a safe and peaceful environment was essential to attracting investment.

“If even one rupee of corruption is proven against me, I will resign,” she declared, adding that a comprehensive campaign against corruption was underway in Punjab.

The chief minister said government employees found involved in taking bribes were being dismissed from service, while eliminating corruption remained a top priority of her administration.

Maryam Nawaz also highlighted Punjab’s significant contribution to the national GDP, saying that her government had ended illegal occupations that had remained in place for as long as 25 years.

She added that encroachments had been removed to widen markets and improve public spaces, while every sector, including industry, was undergoing a process of transformation.

The chief minister said Pakistan’s young population could become the country’s greatest asset if its potential was properly utilised.
