We Will Hold a Long March on Islamabad in Mid-November: Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman

LAHORE (Daily Qudrat): Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has announced that a super long march toward Islamabad will be held in mid-November and that this march will under no circumstances be postponed.
According to details, an important meeting was held at the Prime Minister’s House between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman. The JI delegation included Liaqat Baloch, Syed Farasat Shah and Nasrullah Randhawa, while the government delegation included Ishaq Dar, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Senator Rana Sanaullah and Bilal Azhar Kayani.
Speaking at a press conference after the meeting, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that the committee for negotiations with the government is being given more time; however, the government must establish an effective system for abolishing the petroleum levy before the march. He said the current relief package is not providing any significant benefit to the people, so the scope of relief should be expanded.
The Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer further said that the entire burden of the levy imposed on petroleum products is being borne by the middle class and the poor, and this levy, which amounts to extortion, must be abolished in any case. He said it was agreed with the government that relief on petroleum products would be increased, while our position is that the levy should be completely abolished.
He said the government’s position is that relief should be given in phases, and the government has asked for another 7 to 10 days on this matter. Therefore, the government should announce a comprehensive package before our march begins. The process of mobilisation will continue across the country, and if the government does not provide relief within the stipulated time, a full-fledged super long march will be held in mid-November.
