Lahore High Court Seeks Report on Whereabouts of Saad Rizvi and Brother

LAHORE:The Lahore High Court has sought a report from the Ministry of Interior on the whereabouts of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Hafiz Saad Hussain Rizvi and his brother Hafiz Anas Hussain Rizvi, after the ministry failed to submit a comprehensive report despite repeated court orders.

Justice Jawad Zafar heard the petition seeking the recovery of the two TLP leaders, whose alleged disappearance has been challenged before the court.

During the hearing, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) submitted its report, stating that money laundering cases had been registered against both leaders and that they were legally wanted by the agency. However, the FIA clarified that neither Saad Rizvi nor Anas Rizvi was in its custody.

The court expressed strong displeasure over the Ministry of Interior’s failure to submit its report despite previous directives. It issued another formal notice to the ministry and directed it to submit a report within one week, explaining where the two leaders were and which institution, if any, had them in custody.

The Lahore High Court reiterated its instructions to the ministry and adjourned further proceedings until November 3.

At the previous hearing, the court had also sought reports from the Ministry of Interior and the FIA regarding the two leaders’ whereabouts.

According to the report, the TLP leaders have been missing for 378 days, with their disappearance described by the petitioners as an alleged case of enforced disappearance.
