Law Abolishing Sardari System Has Existed Since 1976; A Repetitive Resolution Cannot Come Before the House: Ruling by Captain (Retd) Abdul Khaliq Achakzai

QUETTA (Daily Qudrat Quetta): During a session of the Balochistan Assembly, a resolution submitted by Haq Do Tehreek leader and MPA Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch regarding the abolition of the Sardari system and a ban on speaking and writing words such as “Sardar” and “Nawab” could not be presented in the House, and the Speaker disposed of it in light of legal points.

During the session, Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly Captain (Retd) Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, giving a ruling, said that Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch had submitted a resolution regarding the complete abolition of the Sardari system from the province, and had been promised that this resolution would be made part of the House’s proceedings and agenda.

Clarifying, the Speaker said that keeping in view the legal status and sensitivity of the resolution, government and judicial records were examined minutely. After scrutiny and examination of all this record, it emerged that formal legislation and a resolution for the abolition of the Sardari system in the country had already been passed in 1976.

Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai ruled that since the law abolishing the Sardari system already exists, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman’s repetitive resolution on this subject cannot be presented in the Assembly. Giving the ruling, the Speaker formally disposed of Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman’s resolution on the abolition of the Sardari system.
