Foreign Ministry Launches Digital Attestation System for Online Document Verification

ISLAMABAD:The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched a digital attestation system to simplify the document verification process, allowing citizens to submit applications online from home and receive electronic certificates via email after verification.
According to a statement issued by the ministry, the new system became operational on October 12, 2026. Under the facility, citizens can obtain attestation of their documents through the ministry’s main office in Islamabad as well as liaison offices in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta and Gujrat.
Applicants can complete the process for both general and apostille attestation online and pay the prescribed fees. Once the verification process is completed, the attestation certificate will be sent to them via email.
The ministry said the system has been developed on the model of the Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) digital services. The initiative aims to make document attestation faster, easier and more transparent while eliminating the need for repeated visits to government offices.
The new facility is expected to save citizens valuable time and travel expenses by enabling them to complete most of the process digitally.
However, the ministry clarified that applicants may still be required to appear in person in certain specific or exceptional cases.
According to the statement, individuals seeking document attestation can submit their applications through the ministry’s official online portal.
