UAE Royal Family Member Found Unconscious on London Street, Fined £5,000 for Child Neglect
LONDON: A 32-year-old woman identified as Mahra Al Nahyan, a member by marriage of Abu Dhabi’s ruling family, was found unconscious on a London street following an alleged drug overdose while caring for a three-year-old child, according to a report published by the British newspaper Daily Mail.
Southwark Crown Court was told that the woman was found lying unconscious near a railing alongside an unconscious man. Meanwhile, the three-year-old child was reportedly barefoot and playing alone near a busy road, at one point running towards the street.
According to the report, a passer-by noticed the child in the dangerous situation and intervened to bring the youngster to safety. Security personnel and police subsequently arrived at the scene, but the woman reportedly remained unconscious for around 30 minutes. When she regained consciousness, she displayed an unusual reaction.

During the court proceedings, prosecutors said police had found drug-related paraphernalia in her possession during a search.
Her lawyer told the court that she had acknowledged her wrongdoing following the incident and had begun treatment at a drug rehabilitation centre. She intended to complete the programme and overcome her substance-use problem, the defence said.
After hearing the case, Judge Johnson reportedly sentenced her to a two-year community order, including a rehabilitation requirement, and imposed a £5,000 fine along with £1,000 in court costs.
The judge said leaving a young child alone near a busy road while under the influence of drugs amounted to serious negligence and placed the child’s safety at considerable risk. The circumstances could have resulted in a serious accident, the court was told.
The sentence was intended to address the seriousness of the child-neglect offence while requiring the defendant to undertake rehabilitation, according to the report.
