I Asked Shehbaz Sharif Whether You Would Spread Bodies in a Long March Over the Demand for the Leader’s Treatment and Meeting: Maulana Fazlur Rehman

MULTAN (Qudrat Daily) — JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that I had asked Shehbaz Sharif whether you would spread bodies over the demand for the leader’s treatment and meeting? You are such a helpless ruler; may God not make me such a helpless ruler. I am not prepared to ride a horse whose reins are not in my hands. You are a fake government and are paying the debt of loyalty.
Addressing a gathering in Multan, he said that we spoke in the Constitution about the autonomy of all four provinces. Autonomy of what kind? This is not a confederation where any unit can gain independence and separate whenever it wants. This is a federation under which all units and all provinces have authority over their resources and have authority over their own legislation. But although the Constitution gives authority to the provinces, gives authority to the people of the provinces, and recognises the right of the people and children there over each province’s resources — yet whenever one looked, whenever one looked, the authority of the provinces was ambushed. I remember when in 1973 the Balochistan government was broken and governor’s rule was imposed there — that too was done by the Pakistan Peoples Party, which says democracy is its identity. The party whose identity is democracy did not accept the results of the 1970 election, did not accept the majority of Bengal, imposed governor’s rule in Balochistan within a divided Pakistan, and changed the governor of the Frontier Province overnight. As a result, it was Maulana Mufti Mahmood whose conscience did not allow him to continue the government for even a moment longer, and he announced his resignation from the ministry. And MashaAllah, whenever governor’s rule was imposed in any province — in Punjab, in Balochistan, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa — whenever it was imposed, it fell to the lot of this flag-bearer of democracy, the Pakistan Peoples Party, and its renowned leader Asif Zardari.
This is our history. Sometimes there is agreement among us too, but nevertheless this is history — it should not be taken as criticism. One should look into one’s own collar and see that today, once again, governor’s rule has been imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. But just take a look at this governor’s rule: there is one province, half of it under governor’s rule and half under emergency. Now tell me one thing — in 2017, when FATA was being merged into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, we had expressed a difference of opinion. Not on the point that it should not be merged; we did not oppose the merger. We said that this is a matter of the political future of the tribal people. Merger could also be one option, a separate province could also be one option, and maintaining the situation as it was could also be one option. Keeping these three options before them, the people of FATA should be asked. But the people of FATA were not asked. In Mian Nawaz Sharif Sahib’s mind, merger was in the interest of the people of FATA. It became a province — the mountains of this province and the mineral deposits beneath those mountains became the property of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. After the merger, the right of the province’s people over all these deposits and resources was established. Today, what is the reason that governor’s rule is not being imposed across the entire province, and only the tribal area, the former FATA, and four districts — only to show this, to deceive the nation, that there is unrest here? So there is unrest in FATA too, so there is unrest in Dera Ismail Khan too, so there is unrest in Tank too, in Lakki Marwat too, in Bannu too. This is only to show you that we did all this because of unrest. If unrest is the reason, then these days you are taking a severe beating in Kurram Agency and Orakzai Agency — why have you kept that outside?

So we know your theft. You talk of unrest, you talk of terrorism. If the matter is unrest, then the situation in Balochistan is worse than in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. If governor’s rule is being imposed because there is unrest, if emergency is being imposed because there is unrest, then the one most deserving of it would have been Balochistan province. You are not imposing it in Balochistan because the Chief Minister there is your admirer and your praise-singer, and in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa there is an opposition government. The matter is not about PTI; the matter is about the principle — that wherever there is an opposition government, you blow up their government there. And that FATA whose deposits and resources had become part of the province — by imposing emergency, you have made all its resources subject to the federation. Yesterday, with the hand with which you gave them something, today with the other hand you have snatched it back.
Is this country your property? Is it your forefathers’ property? Are these people your servants? Do you see the people as animals, that you throw whatever fodder you want before them? Remember! No party will confront this undemocratic and tyrannical action of yours. Maulana Fazlur Rehman said while addressing that when I asked Mr. Shehbaz Sharif that you are stopping the long march and want to stop it with full force, and the long march will come, then you will push it back with state power, fire bullets, martyr one or two hundred people — in exchange for what? What is the issue? On the point that they want a meeting, they want to bring their leader to the hospital for treatment — over this demand you will spread hundreds of bodies? How do you people think? It is beyond understanding. And then, despite accepting my argument, I left at seven in the morning, and within two hours by nine you had changed your position again. You are such a helpless ruler; may God not make me such a helpless ruler. I am not prepared to ride a horse whose reins are not in my hands. You are a fake government; you are defeated people. Those who brought you to power through rigging — this chair is owed to them, and you are paying the debt of loyalty, and there is nothing else — they have no government at all.
