Quetta (Qudrat Daily) — In Balochistan, during an attempt to stop a suspicious vehicle in the Joint Road area of Quetta, firing by the suspects martyred a motorcycle-riding police constable, while four people, including another official and two passersby, were injured.
According to a police spokesman, this tragic incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Satellite Town police station in a sensitive area of Quetta, where police personnel on duty during routine snap-checking and checking signaled a suspicious vehicle to stop.
Instead of obeying the law, the individuals in the vehicle completely ignored the police order and, instead of stopping, attempted to speed away.
Demonstrating their professional duty to the fullest, the police personnel immediately began chasing the fleeing vehicle, upon which the frightened suspects, in the panic of escape, opened indiscriminate fire.
During the police chase, when the suspects reached Joint Road, they fired directly at the law enforcement team, as a result of which Police Constable Noman, stationed on the front line, embraced martyrdom on the spot.
Constable Junaid and Constable Khalid were also severely injured after coming under the brunt of this cowardly act by the suspects.
Meanwhile, two ordinary passersby present on Joint Road, Ata Muhammad and Haris, were also injured after being hit by the firing.
As soon as the incident was reported, rescue teams and additional police personnel immediately shifted all the injured to a nearby hospital, where a team of doctors is busy providing medical aid to the injured.
Constable Khalid, who was severely injured, was shifted to the operation theater in view of his critical condition, where he is under treatment.
Police Siege and Raids for Arrest
After this tragic incident, a heavy contingent of Quetta Police immediately reached the scene and completely cordoned off the entire area.
According to the Quetta Police spokesman, the suspects managed to escape from the scene; however, raids are being conducted in various parts of the city for their search and immediate arrest.
According to a statement issued by the office of DIG Quetta Shahbaz Iqbal and the PRO’s report, all resources are being utilized to bring the elements involved in this heinous crime to justice, and they will be brought before the law.
The law and order situation in Quetta and the security challenges faced by the police force have always been extremely sensitive.
To prevent criminal activities, target killings, and attacks on police in the provincial capital, law enforcement agencies remain alert day and night.
The basic purpose of check posts and snap-checking is to protect the lives and property of citizens and to effectively restrict the movement of criminal elements; however, the targeting of police personnel by law-breaking elements is evidence that more stringent and iron-fisted measures are needed against peace-disrupting elements.
