“There Will Be Ups and Downs, but Do Not Panic,” Mohsin Naqvi Tells KP Advisory Council

PESHAWAR: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that the federal and provincial governments are on the same page in addressing security and administrative challenges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, pledging full support for the police and administrative forces to restore peace in the province.
Speaking to the KP Advisory Council in Peshawar, Naqvi said the previous provincial government had failed to provide the leadership required to combat terrorism.
“There will be ups and downs, but you must not panic. Difficult times will also come, but you will have to work with courage and determination,” he told the council members.
The interior minister said a phased strategy would be implemented to empower the police force and improve the security situation across the province. Measures would be taken in phases, covering five districts at a time, to modernise the force and improve its operational performance.
Naqvi said citizens would witness a clear improvement in police performance, adding that security personnel deliver better results when the government provides leadership and stands firmly behind them.
He also referred to statements and messages by certain elements who, he said, had believed they could paralyse the entire province by blocking roads and setting them on fire.
Responding to statements by political opponents regarding protests, Naqvi said the current situation in the province was visible to everyone and that the facts could also be verified through independent sources.
He reaffirmed that the federal government would continue to provide all possible resources and cooperation to the provincial administration to ensure lasting peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
