Shafi Jan Calls on KP Residents to March Towards Peshawar in Support of Chief Minister

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and provincial minister Shafi Jan has called on people across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to take to the streets and head towards Peshawar following the reported imposition of Governor’s Rule and an emergency in the province, as well as reports of arrests of PTI leaders.

In a post on social media platform X, Shafi Jan claimed that Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi had been taken into custody, saying there was no justification for remaining silent at what he described as a critical moment.

He appealed to residents across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to leave their homes immediately and head towards Peshawar to show their support for the provincial leadership.

The PTI leader specifically urged people in Kohat and along routes leading towards Peshawar to make their way to the provincial capital.

Shafi Jan said the people of the tribal districts had a particularly important responsibility at this critical juncture. He argued that the chief minister had put his position at risk while standing up for the honour and rights of the tribal communities.

He called on tribal residents to come out in support of their elected chief minister, urging them to demonstrate solidarity with the provincial leadership.

The PTI leader further said he would personally join the people wherever they gathered, expressing his commitment to standing alongside supporters during the unfolding political situation.

His appeal comes amid heightened political tensions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following reports of emergency measures and the detention of PTI leaders. The claims regarding the chief minister’s custody were made in his social media post.
