Sohail Afridi Warns of Strong Public Reaction to Any Unconstitutional Move in KP

PESHAWAR:Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi has warned that any unconstitutional action in the province would trigger a strong reaction from the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rather than from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) alone.

Speaking to the media, Afridi said his position remained unchanged, whether negotiations took place once or a thousand times. He maintained that military operations were not the solution to the province’s problems and vowed that he would not allow such measures in KP, even at the cost of his life.

Criticising federal and provincial officials, the chief minister said the governor and certain other figures did not hold the real authority, adding that PTI’s struggle for genuine democracy was directed at those he alleged were controlling these political figures.

### Peshawar Development Projects

On the occasion, Afridi laid the foundation stone for a 640-metre-long flyover and a 4.5-kilometre road project at the Ring Road–GT Road intersection. The project is estimated to cost Rs6.2 billion.

He said work on the Rs200 billion Peshawar rehabilitation plan was progressing rapidly.

### PTI Leadership Reviews Political Situation

Earlier, a key consultative meeting of senior PTI leaders was held at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar under Afridi’s chairmanship.

Those attending included PTI Acting Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, provincial president Junaid Akbar Khan, parliamentary leader Shahid Khattak and Provincial Minister Shafi Jan.

According to the report, the meeting discussed the country’s political situation, the next phase of the proposed long march and preparations to address the possibility of an emergency or governor’s rule being imposed by the federal government. Participants also deliberated on strategy and took important decisions.

The possibility of emergency rule or governor’s rule remains a subject of political debate, and no official decision is confirmed in the information provided.
